It is the largest of the Three Cities and is situated between the other two Cities that make up Cottonera which are Vittoriosa (Birgu) and Senglea (Isla). ![]() | The city of Senglea is also known as Civitas Invicta, because it managed to resist the Ottoman invasion at the Great Siege of 1565. The name Senglea derives from the grandmaster who built it, Claude De La Senglea, who gave the city a part of his name. ![]() | Vittoriosa played a vital role in the Siege of Malta in 1565. After the Siege, the Knights also gave Birgu the title of Cittia' Vittorioaa, Italian for "victorious city" It is also an ancient City on the South side of the Grand Harbour in Malta with it's origins reaching back to medieval times. The City occupies a promontory of land with Fort St. Angelo at its head and the city of Cospicua at its base. A concentrated medium bodied wine of deep intensity with aromas of dried figs, spice & ripe juicy forest berries combined withsupple and rounded tannins.
